The Core Security Path
Before working in most operational security roles, officers must complete the foundational grades:
Grade D
Access Control OfficerLearn to manage access points effectively and safely. Training includes access control procedures, managing entry/exit points, protecting assets, and the 3 "D" principles of physical security (Deter, Detect, Delay).
Grade C
Protection of Information OfficerLearn to protect classified and sensitive information, conduct basic risk assessments, respond to emergencies, and save lives during crises.
* Note: Grade C is the minimum requirement for all specialized security courses.
Leadership & Management Path
Advanced qualifications for site management and security operations leadership.
Grade B
SupervisionDevelop the leadership skills needed to supervise security officers, conduct on-the-job training, manage parades, handle flag protocols, and maintain operational discipline.
Grade A
ManagementThe highest PSIRA qualification. Prepares you to manage entire sites and security operations, gather and handle evidence, lead investigations, and oversee high-level security functions.
